Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated 2014 Reads

2014 reads

I don’t usually partake in Top Ten Tuesday (too many blog posts not enough time!) but when I saw this week’s topic was “most anticipated 2014 reads” I couldn’t help myself. 2014 looks like it’s shaping up to be an amazing year for book lovers. Here are some of the titles I can’t wait to get my hands on!

2014 reads

Avalon by Mindee Arnett. January 21 (HarperCollins)
The start of a new sci-fi series that actually takes place in space. The prequel story, Proxy, is available now.

2014 reads

The Unbound by Victoria Schwab. January 28 (Hyperion)
The sequel to the absolutely amazing The Archived

2014 reads

The Martian by Andy Weir. February 11, (Crown)
Pitched as Castaway meets Apollo 13. Recommended if you enjoyed the movie Gravity.

2014 reads

Lady Thief by A C Gaughen. February 11. Walker Childrens
I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this sequel to Scarlet – a fabulous Robin Hood retelling

2014 reads

Cress by Marissa Meyer. February 24. (Feiwel & Friends)
The third book in The Lunar Chronicles. One of my favourite series.

2014 reads

Death Sworn by Leah Cypress. March 4. (Greenwillow)
A new high fantasy series from the author of the Mistwood books

2014 reads

Panic by Lauren Oliver. March 4. (HarperCollins)
New Lauren Oliver book! Drop everything!

2014 reads

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira. April 1. (Farrar, Straus and Giroux)
The story of a girl coping with the death of her sister by writing letters to dead celebrities. And it’s blurbed by Stephen Chbosky!

2014 reads

Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor. April 8. (Little Brown & Co.)
The final book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy!

2014 reads

The Inventor’s Secret by Andrea Cremer. April 22. (Philomel)
It wouldn’t be a good year if there wasn’t some steampunk to look forward to

2014 reads

Landline by Rainbow Rowell. July 8. (St Martin’s)
Attachments, Eleanor & Park and Fangirl have all earned Rainbow Rowell a place on my auto-buy list. With Landline she’s back in Contemporary Adult Fiction land and I can’t wait.

2014 reads

Illusive by Emily Lloyd Jones. July 15. (Little Brown Books)
The comic book fan in me is all over this book about a group of “super” criminals

2014 reads

Strange and Ever After by Susan Dennard. July 22. (HarperCollins)
The final book in Something Strange and Deadly series. (One of my current favourites)

Ok I know, I cheated, there’s actually 12 on this list. But I couldn’t narrow it down any further! And this only goes until July! There’s still the third Raven Cycle book, Julie Kagawa’s new series, Talon, Winterspell by Claire LeGrand…the list goes on and on.

Which 2014 reads are on your wishlist?

  1. Great picks! A lot of these made my own list, but I need to read the whole series for them – Archived, Lunar Chronices and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I also really want to get Love Letters to the Dead and Rainbow Rowell’s books. I’m excited to get to all of them next year. My TTT

  2. So many great books. I was privileged enough to win an ARC of The Unbound. It was AMAZING! I am currently reading Panic and it’s really not living up to what I know of for Oliver. It’s a bit depressing. I have a copy of Avalon and can’t wait to read that! Great choices!

  3. Ahh THE INVENTOR’S SECRET!! I forgot about that one. AND AVALON! Thanks for reminding me about those ones :P

  4. Yes YES. Yes. All of these. Especially Dreams of Gods and Monsters, The Unbound, Death Sworn, and Panic! I STILL need to read the two Scarlets – the one by Marissa Meyer and the one by A.C. Gaughen. Need to get on that!

  5. The Martian sounds crazy good..and also like it will give me claustrophobia!
