Even though the actual read-a-long part is finished, I’m not ready to give up the Delirium discussions just yet. It’s one of my favourite novels and I think I could still find loads more things to talk about.
I’ve been looking forward to the movie version of this book ever since I first read it, but recently FOX has announced they will be adapting it for the small screen instead. I kind of like this idea because a) there are a lot of characters and we’ll get to know them better in a TV show and b) it’ll last even longer than a movie!
They’ve announced a few of the cast members so far. Including Emma Roberts as Lena
And Gregg Sulkin as Julian
I’m not really familiar with either of these actors, but they both look the part, in my opinion. What I’m dying to know is WHO IS ALEX?!?!
But they are making A LOT of changes to the story. And I know it can’t be exact but seriously some of these changes. They make me nervous.
For starters, Julian is being introduced right away, whereas in the books he doesn’t show up until Pandemonium. And apparently he will be sickly and living next door to Hana? And she’ll be attracted to him? I understand introducing his father earlier – he’s an important political figure and having him there helps explain some of the world building – but Julian and Hana? I don’t know…
I also heard that they’re switching Lena’s mother to Lena’s father. Why? I don’t know. I don’t see what could possibly change from making a female character male.
And finally, the first episode will cover the entire first book! This is the biggest disappointment for me. I think by doing that we miss out on a lot of Lena’s early development as a character and they will for sure be cutting some moments between Lena and Alex. How are the viewers supposed to root from them despite all odds if we don’t get to see how incredible their relationship really is?
I’m still planning on watching the show and I’m going to try and remain optimistic but I’m not going to lie. I’m scared. This is one of my all time favourite series and I really don’t want to see it crash and burn.
What? WHAT? I’m excited about a TV series, but I don’t get the whole first episode covering the whole first book … that just doesn’t make sense! As does introducing Julian right away. I know Hollywood makes changes, but with a book so perfect I don’t think it needs to be done!
I’m really nervous and I totally don’t understand the reasons for these changes. I agree – this book is so brilliant it shouldn’t be messed with
I’m really nervous about this, as well… SUPER disappointed that they are making so many major changes – especially having the entire first book take place in the first episode… I mean, I guess I will withhold judgement temporarily until I actually see it in case they still manage to do a good job of it, but still very nervous about this.
