Well it’s begun. The casting for Divergent. I know I’m not the only one who’s been anxiously awaiting these announcements. Divergent is one of the very first YA books I’ve ever read and it absolutely gets credit for getting me into the genre. I’ve reviewed it and the sequel, Insurgent here on the blog and I can not wait to find out how this series ends! So much drama! So many questions. So needless to say I’m both excited and nervous to see how they translate the story to the big screen.
The movie isn’t set to come until 2014 but folks we have a Beatrice Prior! The body and soul of this amazing story. And who will be portraying her?

Star of the show Secret Life of the American Teenager and George Clooney’s daughter in The Descendants. I am actually completely unfamiliar with this actress, having seen neither her show or movie, but I have been assured by many that The Descendants is excellent. Although I’ve also been told by many that they’re very disappointed with his choice.
My first impression is that she *might* work as Beatrice “Tris” Prior. She doesn’t look like I imagined the character, but then I have to remind myself that Jennifer Lawrence Didn’t look like my idea of Katniss either.

And she was wonderful as Katniss! So if it comes down to looks alone I think they could transform her into Tris. Absolutely. But really it all comes down to the acting. So I need to check out the Descendants and Secret Life before making my mind up. Either way I’m just really excited that the ball is finally rolling for this film!
What do you think of the choice of Beatrice Prior? Thumbs up or thumbs down? Who would you have chosen instead? And who are you hoping they cast for Four?
I think I’m going to reserve judgment until the movie. HAAAATE Secret Life, and despite hearing that she’s worlds better in Descendants, I’m just not interested in watching it.
I never saw the appeal of Secret Life. Not my kind of show. But I’m planning on checking out the Descendants soon just to check her out
I think it’s a good choice! And you’re so right about Katniss … I didn’t think Jennifer Lawrence would fit the role, but now I can’t imagine anyone else!
Since her transformation into Katniss I’ve tried not to judge any casting by looks alone. But it’s hard some times!
I actually think Shailene Woodley looks quite a bit like what Tris looked like in my head, but it’s more of the acting. Then again, I’ve only seen Secret Life, and that show seems to thrive on making otherwise decent actors into very strange ones, so I’m trying to not base my opinion on that show alone. I have a feeling I’ll be pleasantly surprised like I was with the Hunger Games.
Thumbs up all the way! She’s also going to be playing Mary Jane in the new Amazing Spider-Man movie coming out in 2014.
